VelaLog ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data within the VelaLog mobile application. VelaLog is designed as a local-first application: your journal entries are stored on your device, not on our servers.
1. Information Collection and Use
We believe that your private thoughts, emotional logs, sleep metrics, and daily scores belong exclusively to you.
- Personal Data: The app does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide personal details such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the core offline application.
- Journal Entries & Analytics: All entries, including your daily mood, sleep quality, stress level, and personal satisfaction ratings (each scored 1-5), along with any personal notes, and daily scores, are stored locally in a private SQLite database on your device. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to external web servers.
2. Local Backups
The app includes a manual export/import tool that creates a standard JSON file of your history. If you choose to use this tool, the file is saved directly to your device's local storage or any third-party cloud location you explicitly select. You are solely responsible for the safety and handling of your exported JSON files.
3. Advertising and Third-Party Services
To provide the application free of charge, without locking core features behind a paywall, VelaLog integrates the Google AdMob advertising SDK. Google AdMob may collect and process device parameters to deliver ads.
These third-party services may automatically collect data including, but not limited to:
- Your device's IP address and operating system type.
- Advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID).
- Anonymized diagnostic and usage metrics.
Your consent choices: If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, VelaLog will present a consent form on first launch, provided through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), asking you to choose your ad preferences. Depending on your choice, you may be shown personalized ads, non-personalized ads, or — if you decline — ads that use no cookies or device identifiers at all ("limited ads"). You can review or change your choice at any time from Settings → Manage Ad Preferences.

Google Privacy Policy
For Users in the United States (including California): We do not sell your personal data. However, our use of Google AdMob may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of data for targeted advertising under certain state privacy laws. You can opt out of targeted advertising at any time through your Android device settings by navigating to Settings → Manage Ad Preferences and enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or "Delete advertising ID."
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored only on your device, we do not hold copies of your entries. If you wish to delete your data completely, you can do so instantly by uninstalling the application or clearing the app's storage from your device's system settings. This action permanently deletes all locally stored records.
5. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because VelaLog stores all data locally on the device and we have no remote access to it, we are unable to view, retrieve, or delete any child's data ourselves. If a child under 13 has used the app, the parent or guardian can remove all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in the device's system settings, as described in Section 4.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
