Word Matrix ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data within the Word Matrix mobile application. Word Matrix is designed as a word association puzzle game where your progress, high scores, mistakes, and language learning milestones are stored locally on your device and seamlessly backed up to your personal cloud storage. We do not operate external database servers to collect or store your personal gameplay records.
1. Information Collection and Use
We believe that your cognitive progress and learning achievements belong exclusively to you.
- Personal Data: The app does not require you to create an app-specific account, log in with an email address, or provide personal details such as your name or phone number to access the core puzzle game.
- Gameplay Progress & Language Milestones: All game sessions, high scores, metrics of mistakes made, and hints used are recorded inside an isolated, local SQLite database file built straight into your device hardware. We have no remote access to this raw database file, and it is never transmitted to our own external servers.
2. Automated Google Drive Cloud Sync
To prevent any loss of your linguistic progress during app re-installations or physical device changes, Google Drive Cloud Sync is automatically enabled by default for all players.
This feature connects natively via your phone's existing active Android Google ecosystem. It uploads a encrypted copy of your local SQLite database file to a hidden, private directory on your personal Google account known as the appDataFolder.
This cloud synchronization operates strictly between your device and Google's cloud infrastructure. We never see, manage, or gain custody of your personal backup files. Because your data remains securely within your personal Google account quota, it is treated under Google's Privacy Policy. You can disable or review cloud connectivity at any time from your device or game preferences.
3. Advertising and Third-Party Services
To provide the core application free of charge, Word Matrix integrates the Google AdMob advertising SDK. Google AdMob may collect and process device parameters to deliver contextual or targeted ads.
These integrated third-party ad services may automatically capture technical data including:
- Your device's IP address, network details, and operating system type.
- Mobile advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID).
- Anonymized diagnostic logs and application crash reports.
Your Consent Choices (GDPR): Since we operate out of Berlin, Germany, the app fully complies with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Word Matrix presents a mandatory consent dialog on the first launch via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can explicitly choose to accept personalized ads, limit data processing to non-personalized ads, or choose "limited ads" that use no identifiers or cookies at all. You can review or alter these choices instantly within the application by navigating to Settings → Ads Settings.

For Users in the United States: We do not sell your personal data. However, the transmission of advertising identifiers to Google AdMob may qualify as a "sale" or "sharing" under specific state privacy regulations. You can opt out of targeted ad pipelines at any time by toggling your hardware settings or managing preferences in the app settings to clear your unique Advertising ID.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your gameplay data remains confined to your phone and your hidden personal Google Drive application folder, we hold no records to delete or export on our end. If you want to purge all records permanently, you can do so in seconds by navigating to your Android system configuration, clearing the application's storage, and uninstalling the app. To clear cloud backups, you can disconnect app access directly inside your personal Google Account dashboard.
5. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly capture or process personal details from children. Because all word puzzles and progress scores reside strictly within your local device database or your personal Google account folder, we possess no manual administrative ability to retrieve or check a child's game session. Parents or legal guardians can clear all active gaming records instantly at any time by executing a storage wipe or uninstalling the app from the child's device, as described in Section 4.

We may alter our Privacy Policy from time to time to align with app upgrades or shifting regulatory rules. You are advised to check this legal link periodically. Any modifications to this policy become fully effective immediately upon being published on this page.
